SMI wins in extras, moves ahead of ETS

It took eight innings, but St. Marys Insurance scored a run in the top of the eighth, then held Eckert Technical Services scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to pick up the 13-12 win and move into sole possession of first place in the St. Marys Mens Softball during action Tuesday night at the Robin Road Softball Complex.

Rudy Gleixner was 3 for 3 with a pair of homeruns and drove in 4 runs to lead SMI (14-3). Jake Cortina also smacked bombs and drove in 4 runs and Kenny Vogt added a fifth homerun for the Insurancemen.

ETS (13-4) was led by Kyler Lenox, who homered and doubled, knocking in 4 runs while going 4 for 4. Jared Groll added a 3 for 3 night that also included a homerun, double and 2 RBI. Tyler Donachy pitched in with a double.

Also Tuesday night, Allegheny Coatings defeated PA Powdered Metals 13-5 just before a brief storm halted play for about a half hour.

Allegheny Coatings (12-7) got homeruns from Kevin Hoy, Andy Eck and Dillon Kline. The Goats also got doubles from Eck, Derek Meyer and Jake Geer. Hoy finished with 4 RBI and Kline 3 RBI to lead the offense.

For PPM (4-14), Cory Huff and Luke Hoffman both doubled and Mitchell Struble drove in 3 runs.

Ricky Pearsall and Rich Quiggle went a combined 7 for 7 and drove in 8 runs to lead the Allegheny Coatings Goats to a five-inning, 14-2 win over Tubby’s Tavern in the Monday night late game.

Pearsall hit two homeruns, one inside the park, the other over the fence and drove in 5 runs. Quiggle’s three hits were all singles, but they knocked in three runs. Derek Meyer, Nick Brennen and Jake Geer all added a 2 for 3 night at the dish.

In the early game Monday night, which was covered on the radio by The River, was won by Tyler Landscape 15-12 over Carlson Technologies, whose 8 run, sixth inning rally fell just short.

Dalton Bauer and Brandon Tyger led the Landscapers (6-11), smashing a dinger each. Cody Ritter and Dan Wimer were 4 for 4, and Jeff Crawford, Wimer and Bauer all doubled for the winners.

CTI (6-10) was led by Ben Vogt’s 3 for 4 evening that included a double and a pair of RBIs. Mike Miraglia hit his 15th homerun of the season, tying him for the league lead with Mitchell Struble. Miraglia also drove in 4 runs. Steve Simchick was also 3 for 4 with a double.
