CTI stuns ETS, SMI-ETS now tied atop standings

Carlson Technologies stunned Eckert Technical Services 13-4 Thursday night, dropping ETS into a first-place tie with St. Marys Insurance in the standing of the St. Marys Mens League Softball League in action held at the Robin Road Softball Complex last week.

ETS won their other game of the week, beating Tubby’s Tavern 17-6 Friday evening.

St. Marys Insurance played twice last week, winning both, smacking around PA Powdered Metals 19-1 and then rallying to knock off Allegheny Coatings 12-9.

Both teams are now 13-3 on the season, with a three-game lead over third place Deprators Beverage.

Carlson’s (6-9) got three homeruns from Mike Miraglia in their upset of ETS. Miraglia finished the game 3 for 4 with 5 RBIs. Steve Simchick also homered, and Mick Vogt added a triple for the winners.

ETS was led by doubles and 2 RBI’s each from Jared Groll and Kyler Lenox.

In their Friday against Tubby’s, ETS got a perfect 5 for 5 performance at the plate from Bryan Hansen, 2 homeruns and 5 RBI from Groll and a homerun from Nick Reuscher. Luke Nicklas added 4 RBIs for winners.

Tubby’s (6-9) got a 3 for 3 night that included a pair of doubles from Matt Kriner to lead them at the plate. Garrett Hornung and Nate Ball also doubled in the losing effort.

SMI got a big night from Kurt Eckert and Rudy Gleixner in their win over PPM. Eckert was 3 for 4 with a dinger and 3 RBI, while Gleixner finished 2 for 2 with a round-tripper and 4 RBI. Eric Bush, TJ Breindel and Jeremy Williams all added homeruns in the winning effort.

Gleixner and Lucas Wendel both were a perfect 4 for 4 in Friday night’s win over Allegheny Coatings. All eight hits between the two were singles and Gleixner was able to turn those singles into a 3 RBI night. Jake Cortina added a homerun and 4 RBIs.

The Goats (10-7) were by Nick Brennen, who went 3 for 4 with 3 homeruns and 5 RBI. Joe Jacob and Dillon Kline both added doubles and Derek Meyer knocked in a pair of runs.

Allegheny Coatings won their other game of the week, beating CTI 11-3. The Goats were led by Justin Quiggle’s 2 for 3, one homerun, 2 RBI night. Meyer and Vince Jacob both added homeruns and 3 RBI nights for the winners.

CTI was led by Simchick’s 2 for 3 night which included a double and Simchick knocked in all three of CTI’s runs.

PPM (4-13) beat Tubby’s 20-13 for their lone win of the week last Tuesday.

Mitchell Struble homered twice and Cory Huff once to lead PPM. Luke Hoffman added a triple and Danny Singer a double to help the cause.

Struble’s two homers give him 15 on the year, which leads the league by one over Miraglia of CTI.

Zack Austin was 3 for 3 and Nate Ball, Jamer Cooney and Zip McKimm were all 3 for 4 to lead the Tavernmen. Cooney and Dustin Geist both hit a double, the only extra base hits for Tubby’s.
Deprators Beverage and Tyler Landscape (5-11) played a tight, slugfest on Thursday night, with PPM holding on to win 17-16.

Deprators (10-6) was led by a triple from Nate Dezanet and doubles from Garrett Bauer, Austin Green and Ryan Fritz.
