Elk County Tool & Die and St. Marys Insurance survived week 4 of the regular season to stay undefeated, setting up a possible showdown for first place this week in St. Marys Mens League softball action at the Robin Road Sports Complex.
ECTD and SMI face each other on Wednesday night, but both teams must navigate a good opponent on Monday to make a game of undefeateds happen. ECTD plays Allegheny Coatings on Monday and SMI will square off against Tubby’s Tavern.
Allegheny Coatings could have a big say in how the standings will look come next Monday, as their other game this week is against St. Marys Insurance on Friday night.
Memorial Day gave the Mens League a short week, beginning with Dino’s Place picking up their first win of the season over Wildwoods 20-8 on Tuesday night. Allegheny Coatings turned back Carlson Technologies 13-6 in the nightcap.
For Dino’s (1-7) Alex Gorton went 4 for 4 and Alex Bon was 3 for 3. Logan Bauer homered and doubled, Gorton double and Bon smacked a triple.
Mason McAllister led Wildwoods (0-9), going 2 for 3 with a triple. Mitchell Troha added a pair of singles.
Ricky Pearsall led the Goats (5-3), going 3 for 4, Joe McLaughlin doubled, and Ryan Grimm drove in 3 runs.
CTI (4-4) got a pair of homeruns from Mike Miraglia that accounted for 4 of their 6 runs.
On Wednesday night, ECTD beat Deprators Beverage 12-3, and St. Marys Insurance kept pace in the standings by knocking off Tubby’s Tavern 17-4.
Jared Groll homered twice and drove in a pair of runs for ECTD (8-0). Cory Huff went 3 for 3 with 4 RBI’s and a double. Brandon Sicheri added a three-run dinger.
Nate Dezanet tripled to lead Deprators (5-3). Garrett Bauer and Ryan Fritz both added a double.
SMI (7-0) got a 4 for 4 night from Tony Chiodo that included a pair of RBI’s. Jake Cortina was also perfect at 3 for 3 and drove in 5 runs. Kenny Vogt added a homerun for the winners.
For Tubby’s (4-4), Dustin Geist and Joe Cooney both went 3 for 3.
Thursday night saw Tyler Landscape outslug Wildwoods 23-16, and Deprators Beverage kept Dino’s Place at bay, 12-5.
Tyler Landscape (2-6) was led at the dish by Jordan Weinzierl’s 3 for 3 performance that included a triple, homerun and 6 RBI. Matt Neubert added a homerun.
Austin Green led Deprators, going 4 for 4 with a double. Zack Zameroski homered and Ryan Heary and Alec Wehler both doubled for the winners.
For Dino’s, Logan Bauer homered and doubled twice. Isaac Schlimm added a long ball and Connor Bressler doubled.
Then to wrap up the week, Allegheny Coatings beat Tubby’s Tavern 17-12, and ECTD rallied late to beat CTI 24-14.
The Goats were led by Kevin Hoy’s 3 for 3 night at the plate, including a triple and a homerun and 4 RBI’s. Justin Quiggle went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI.
Jamer Cooney was 4 for 4 with a double to lead Tubby’s. Ken Meyer had a double in a 3 for 4 performance and Garrett Hornung also finished 3 for 4.
ECTD was led by Nathan Schneider’s big night. Schneider went 5 for 5 with a double, homerun and 4 RBI. Rudy Gleixner and Kyler Lenox both added homeruns and Dan Singer and Brandon Sicheri both doubled.
For CTI, both Mike Miraglia and Steve Simchick slugged homeruns. Justin Saline added a triple.
