Goats knock SMI from undefeated ranks

The Allegheny Coatings Goats knocked one of the leagues top two teams from undefeated status, while the other rolled Monday night in St. Marys Mens Softball league action at the Robin Road Sports Complex.

Kevin Hoy’s 3 for 3 night at the plate, which included a pair of homeruns and RBI, helped lead Allegheny Coatings to an 18-14 win over previously unbeaten St. Marys Insurance. Cole Peterson was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, Andy Eck went 3 for 5 with a homerun and Derek Meyer was 3 for 5 with a pair of RBI to lead the Goats. Ryan Grimm also doubled for the winners.

Leading SMI (7-1) was Kenny Vogt, who finished 5 for 5 with a homerun and 2 RBI. Kiel Nissel, Jeremy Williams, Nathan Liggett, and TJ Breindel all homered as well. Nissel and Liggett both finished with 3 RBI’s.

In the nightcap, Elk County Tool & Die remained perfect with a 21-8 win over Tubby’s Tavern.

ECTD (9-0) was led by Dan Singer, who went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI. Jared Groll homered and knocked in 4 runs, Rudy Gleixner also popped a long ball and had 4 RBI’s, and Brandon Sicheri doubled twice for the winners.

Tubby’s (4-6) got a 3 for 3 night out of Jamer Cooney in the losing effort. Garrett Hornung, Brock Lewis, and Dustin Geist all had a pair of hits.

Elk County Tool & Die squared off against St. Marys Insurance on Wednesday night in a battle for first place. ECTD will then play Friday night, against Allegheny Coatings.

Tuesday night, even in the inclement weather, the league played on. Carlson Technologies beat Dino’s Place 13-1 and Tyler Landscape upset Deprators Beverage 10-3.

CTI (5-4) got a 4 for 4 nights from Eric Herzing and Mike Miraglia to get the win. Herzing had a double and triple to his credit and Miraglia’s were all singles. Mick Vogt added a 3 for 3 night that included a double and 4 RBI. Travis Menteer added a three-run homer and Jeff Crawford doubled.

In the late game, Tyler (3-6) got a pair of homeruns from Jordan Weinzierl and doubles from Nate Hoffman, Dalton Bauer, Rick Beimel and Tyler Zelinski.

Deprators (5-4) was led by Tyler Wehler, Zack Zameroski and Ryan Fritz, who all doubled.
