The battle for second place did not disappoint Monday night as Eckert Technical Services and Deprators Beverage combined for 50 runs and 56 hits, with ETS pulling off the come from behind 28-22 win and take home the second-place prize in St. Marys Mens Softball League action at the Robin Road Sports Complex.
The other game Monday saw Tyler Landscape secure the fifth seed with an 11-4 win over N&S Contractors. N&S will be one of the two teams playing Thursday night in the eighth versus ninth place play-in game. Tyler will open the playoffs against fourth seeded Allegheny Coatings Wednesday night at 6:50 pm.
ETS (17-6) started slowly, scoring just one run, and trailed 8-1 after three innings of play. Deprators put two runs on the board in the bottom of the first and added six more in the bottom of third.
Austin Green’s two run homer and Ryan Heary’s two RBI single were the key hits for Deprators.
In the fourth, ETS batted around, sending fifteen hitter to the plate, and scored eleven times on twelve hits to take the lead 12-8. Tyler Zelinski smacked a two-run triple, Kyler Lenox a two-run double, and Nick Reuscher had a two-run single for ETS in the outburst.
Deprators (16-8) took the lead back in home half of the inning, thanks in part to a bases loaded double by Green. Zack Zameroski doubled to score Green, and Matt Bellina singled to score Zameroski to account for the scoring.
ETS went back to work again in the top of the fifth, batting around for the second straight inning, this time sending fourteen hitters to bat, scoring ten times to take the lead for good, 22-13. Tyler Donachy and Justin Eckert both launched three run shots to take care of most of the scoring.
Deprators would get as close as 24-22, but ETS added four insurance runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win and the second seed.
ETS was led by Brandon Sicheri, who went 4 for 6 with a homerun and 3 RBI. Donachy finished the night with 4 RBI and Jared Groll, Zelinski and Eckert all added 3 RBI each.
Deprators got a huge night from Green in the loss. Green was 4 for 5 with a pair of dingers and 6 RBI. Alec Wehler was also 4 for 5 with a solo homerun.
ETS will now play Thursday night against the seventh seed. Deprators will play next Monday against sixth seeded Tubby’s Tavern.
Tyler (10-14) was led by Jordan Weinzierl, Brandon Tyger, and Dalton Bauer, who all homered. Dan Wimer and Cody Ritter both added a triple.
N&S (5-18) got a homerun and a pair of hits from Brandon Emmert to lead the offense. Koby Snelick, John Ackley, and Rick Beimel all added two hits in the losing effort.
