Tyler Landscape upset St. Marys Insurance last Thursday night 20-15, hurting SMI’s chances of catching Elk County Tool & Die for the regular season title in St. Marys Mens League softball action at the Robin Road Sports Complex.
TLM (7-11) used an 8-run fourth inning and a 6-run seventh inning to secure their upset victory. Al Schneider and Jordan Weinzierl were both 4 for 5 during the game, with Weinzierl smacking a homerun, a double and knocking in 5 runs, while Schneider added a double and knocked in a pair of runs. Dalton Bauer and Nate Hoffman both a homerun for the Landscapers.
Leading the way for SMI (14-5) was TJ Breindel, who was 4 for 4 with 2 homeruns, a pair of doubles and 4 RBI’s. Jeremy Williams also homered twice and drove in 4 runs, while Ben Cortina hit the teams fifth homerun, the team limit for a game. Tony Chiodo also added a pair of doubles for the losers.
TLM was also in action Monday and Wednesday, losing to Carlson Technologies 20-4 and Tubby’s Tavern 10-9, respectively.
In Monday’s game against CTI, Rick Beimel and Jude Salvaggio were both 2 for 2. One of Beimel’s hits was a triple. Tyler Daniels doubled and drove in half the Landscaper’s runs.
For CTI (12-8), a seven run first inning sealed the deal for the Techmen. Mick Vogt was 4 for 4 and Ben Vogt and Jeff Crawford were both 3 for 3 to lead the winners. Travis Menteer added 5 RBI’s and Crawford finished with 4 runs knocked in.
Wednesday against Tubby’s, Weinzierl was 3 for 4 with a pair of solo homeruns. Schneider also hit a homerun in the losing effort.
Tubby’s (10-10) was led by Garrett Hornung’s 4 for 4 night that saw him smack a homerun and a double and drive in a pair of runs. Matt Kriner also smacked a dinger, as did Saul Solveson for the Tavernboys.
Elk County Tool & Die got their games out of the way early in the week, beating Tubby’s Tavern 21-9 on Monday and again squeaking past Allegheny Coatings 11-7 Tuesday night.
Monday against Tubby’s, ECTD (17-1) got a 3 for 3 night with 3 RBI from Tyler Donachy to lead the Diemen. Kyler Lenox hit a pair of homeruns and knocked in 5 runs, while Rudy Gleixner added a homerun and 4 RBI’s. Danny Singer also had a 4 RBI night.
For Tubby’s, Hornung was again 4 for 4, all singles this time. Kriner was also 4 for 4, Both Ken Meyer and Ryan Breslin both added a double for the Tavernboys.
In ECTD’s win over the Goats, Donachy’s 2 for 3, 5 RBI night was the difference. One of Donachy’s hits was a homerun. Singer finished 3 for 4 with a pair of runs batted in and Gleixner added a double.
For the Goats (10-7), Andy Eck was 3 for 3 with a homerun and 2 RBI. Dalton Kline also homered and knocked in 2 runs.
In Tuesday night’s other game, SMI knocked off Dino’s Place 26-7. SMI was led by Lucas Wendel , who was 5 for 5 (double), Kenny Vogt 4 for 5 (5 RBI), Nathan Liggett 4 for 5 (5 RBI) and Kyle Garner 4 for 5 (grand slam, 5 RBI).
For Dino’s (2-18), Josh Robinson was 2 for 2, Alex Bon 2 for 3, and Cam Mack was 2 for 2 with a walk.
Deprator’s Beverage(12-7) got a win Wednesday night, defeating Wildwoods 15-7. Leading the Beverageboys was Eric Gerber’s 4 for 4 night, all singles. Austin Green added a pair of doubles for the winners.
Leading Wildwoods (1-18) was Joe Geci, who was 3 for 3.
The Goats did pick up a win Thursday night, defeating Dino’s Place 22-13. Justin Quiggle, Andy Eck and Kevin Hoy all went deep for the Goats. Dillon Kline added a 5 for 6 night at the dish that included 2 doubles and 4 RBI. Ricky Pearsall, Joe McLaughlin, Jake Geer and Nick Brennen all doubled.
For Dino’s, Jacob Kline was 3 for 4 with a 3-run dinger to lead the squad. Matt Dush had a 3 for 4 night that included a pair of triples. Alex Gorton added a double in the losing effort.
The final game of the week, Friday night’s late game, saw CTI defeat Deprators 14-12. Travis Menteer led CTI with a 3 for 3 performance that included a homerun, double and 3 RBI’s. Mike Miraglia was 2 for 3 with a homerun and 3 RBI. Justin Saline was also 3 for 3 with 3 RBI’s. Steve Simchick and Ben Vogt both added doubles.
For Deprators, Brady Schneider was 4 for 4 with a double to lead the Beverageboys. Austin Green was also 4 for 4 with a homerun and a double. Alec Wehler smacked a solo homer and Zack Zameroski doubled as part of a 3 for 3 night for him.
