The St. Marys Mens Softball League finished up their first week of play Friday night, and Elk County Tool and Die stands on top of the standings, winning all three of their games during the week in action played at the Robin Road Sports Complex.
ECTD (3-0) rattled off wins against Tubby’s Tavern (20-6), Wildwoods (26-3) and then squeaked past Allegheny Coatings 13-12 on the strength of a Jared Groll sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to secure the two-run come from behind win.
For ECTD, Rudy Gleixner smacked 4 homeruns and knocked in 9 RBI’s for the week to lead the Diemen. Danny Singer added 11 RBI’s and Groll ended the week with a pair of dingers.
St. Marys Insurance (2-0) knocked of Allegheny Coatings (14-8) on the strength of a 10-run sixth inning and topped Dino’s Place 19-1. The Insurancemen were led by Eric Bush, who smacked a homerun and had 5 RBI’s. Tony Chiodo finished the week a perfect 4 for 4 with 4 RBI’s and walked twice. Jake Cortina also added 4 RBI’s for SMI.
Deprators Beverage (2-0) made their claim for top team of the week by beating Tyler Landscape (11-3) and Wildwoods (22-2). The Beveragemen were led by Alec Wehler’s 6 for 7 week that included 3 doubles and 5 RBI’s. Gavin Elmquist, Bryce O’Leary, Ryan Heary and Matt Bellina all pitched in with 4 RBI’s.
The last undefeated team after week one is Carlson Technologies (2-0). CTI beat Dino’s Place (19-3) and Tyler Landscape (19-4). Mike Miraglia led CTI, going 6 for 6 with a pair homeruns and 9 RBI’s. Steve Simchick (3 doubles, 7 RBI), Brett Herzing (2 doubles, 6 RBI) and 6 RBI’s from Mick Vogt also helped CTI to the perfect start.
Tubby’s Tavern (1-1) finished the week at .500 thanks to their 20-3 win over Dino’s Place. Leading the Tavern boys was Joe Cooney with 7 RBI’s and Brock Lewis, who pitched in with 5 RBI’s.
Allegheny Coatings (0-2) got stand out performances from Ricky Pearsall (5 for 8 with 4 RBI) and Justin Quiggle’s 4 RBI.
Tyler Landscape (0-2) was led by Cody Ritter’s 4 for 5 week. Dalton Bauer and Matt Neubert both doubled, and Nate Eckert legged out a triple.
Dino’s Place (0-3) got three hits each from Reece Novosel and Bobby Rumcik. Jacob Kline added a double and had 2 RBI.
