The Allegheny Coatings Goats and Keystone Rural Health navigated their way through week one of the St. Mens Softball League schedule and found themselves undefeated in league action last week at the Robin Road Sports Complex.
The Goats, the defending champions, went 3-0 and find themselves a half-game ahead of KRHC, who won both their games to stand at 2-0.
Allegheny Coatings opened the week with an 11-5 win over ECTD, then backed that up with wins over upstart Cavalier Roofing 10-0, and then handed Deprators Beverage their first loss of the season after starting 2-0, 17-11 Friday night in 8 innings.
In Wednesday’s game against the Roofers (1-1), Ricky Pearsall and Kevin Hoy both went 3 for 4, with Pearsall smacking a pair of doubles and Hoy collecting 3 RBI’s. Dalton Kline added a double and Derek Meyer legged out a triple in the winning effort.
Max Cowan led Cavalier, going 2 for 3. Ryan Mancuso was 2 for 2 in the losing effort.
In Friday’s game against Deprators (2-1), the Goats got key homeruns from Pearsall, Andy Eck and Dalton Kline, all 3-run shots and Dillon Kline added a 2-run dinger.
Deprators was led by Austin Green, who went 3 for 4 with a 2-run homer and a double. Matt Bellina and Dalton Bauer both added a double in the losing effort.
Keystone Rural Health won Monday against SMI 9-2, then picked up win number two on the year Wednesday night against Dino’s Place, 14-8.
Mike Miraglia kept up his hot start for KRHC (2-0), whacking two more homeruns, going 2 for 2 with 5 RBI’s and being intentionally walked twice, to give him a league leading 4 homeruns after week one of competition. Eric Herzing added a 4 for 4 night with a pair of doubles for the winners.
The Goats and KRHC meet Wednesday night at 6:50 pm, in an early matchup that could decide early bragging rights.
In other action, St. Marys Insurance (1-2) picked up their first win of the season Friday night against Dino’s Place (0-3), winning 12-0.
Elk County Tool & Die (1-1) got in the win column Wednesday night when they beat SMI 13-1.
Deprators Beverage knocked off Gerg Tool & Die 7-5 Thursday night to setup their undefeated showdown with Allegheny Coatings Friday.
