Elk County Tool & Die won two tough games on Wednesday and Friday to remain atop the St. Marys Mens Softball league standings and maintain their undefeated status in action at the Robin Road Sports Complex last week.
Brandon Sicheri’s solo homerun Friday night in the top of the eighth inning Friday night lifted Tool & Die to an exciting 21-20 win over Allegheny Coatings, who rallied for six runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie game at 20-all and give the fans some free softball.
Tool & Die (11-0) also got homeruns from Cory Huff (2) and Kyler Lenox. Sicheri added two triples and Nick Reuscher knocked in 6 runs.
Kevin Hoy led the Goats (6-4), smacking a pair of homeruns for the second straight game and driving in 3 runs. Joey McLaughlin hit a game tying 3-run dinger in the bottom of the seventh and Justin Quiggle and Derek Meyer both homered.
In Friday’s early game, St. Marys Insurance (8-2) beat Dino’s Place 17-5 behind a 4 for 4 performance from Kenny Vogt.
One of Vogt’s hits was a double and Kyle Garner added a triple. Also doubling for the winners were Tony Chiodo and Lucas Wendel. Jake Cortina added the only homer of the night.
For Dino’s (2-9), Logan Bauer was 3 for 3 with a double. Alex Gorton added a double and Alex Bon and Bobby Rumcik each had a pair of hits.
Wednesday night, ECTD beat SMI 9-7 to push their advantage in the league standings to 2 games.
Cory Huff smacked a 3-run homerun and Jared Groll added a 2-run shot for the winners.
Eric Bush hit a 3-run homer and Kenny Vogt added a 2-run dinger to lead SMI.
In the other game Wednesday, Dino’s Place upset Tubby’s Tavern 12-11.
Dino’s (2-9) was led by 3 for 4 performances by Connor Bressler, Jacob Kline, Alex Bon, and Robby Briggs. Logan Bauer added a triple and Mitchell Reiter and Matt Dush a double for the winners.
Thursday night saw Deprators Beverage (6-4) beat Wildwoods (0-10), 7-0, and Carlson Technologies topped Tyler Landscape 20-2.
CTI (6-4) was led by Mike Miraglia, who homered twice, giving him a league leading 13, and driving in 4 runs, pushing his league leading total there to 39. The Herzing brothers, Eric, and Brett, both went 4 for 5. Eric had a homerun and a triple and drove in 5 runs. Brett added a double and 3 RBI. John Ackley and Travis Menteer both added homeruns for the Technology boys.
Jordan Weinzierl’s 3 for 3 game with a double and 2 RBI’s led Tyler (3-7). Tyler Zelinski scored both runs for the Landscapers.
