Alec Wehler’s two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning helped Deprators Beverage retake the lead and they would hang on for a 7-6 win over Allegheny Coatings Tuesday night in St. Marys Mens League Softball action at the Robin Road Sports Complex to move into third place in the standings.
Zack Zameroski also homered for Deprators (9-5) and finished the game going 2 for 2. Austin Green added a double and Matt Bellina tripled for the winners.
Justin Quiggle and Derek Meyer both went yard for the Goats (9-6). Quiggle’s homerun, his 11th, ties him for the league lead. Dalton Kline added a double and Ryan Grimm was 3 for 3 in the losing effort.
Eckert Technical Services held off a pesky N&S Contractors 14-9 in the nightcap Tuesday to hold onto the top spot in the standings.
ETS (11-2) by Bryan Hansen’s 2 for 3 night that included a homerun and 5 RBIs. Jared Groll added a 3 for 4 night with a double and 3 RBI and Kyler Lenox smacked a dinger as well for the winners.
For N&S (4-11), Dick Perroz, Rick Beimel and Trey Anderson all went 2 for 3.
St. Marys Insurance stayed hot on Eckert’s tail, shutting out Tyler Landscape 12-0 Monday night in the opener and Deprators Beverage defeated PA Powdered Metals 21-11 in the second game.
Eric Bush homered and drove in 3 runs to lead SMI (11-3). Rudy Gleixner (2), Kurt Eckert and TJ Breindel all added doubled to highlight the Insurancemen’s 16-hit attack.
Tyler (5-9) could only manage three hits on the night, a single each by Dan Wimer, Matt Neubert and Jeff Crawford.
For Deprators on Monday, a 16-run fifth inning carried the Beveragemen to victory. Alec Wehler led the onslaught, going 4 for 5 with a double and triple, Tyler Wehler added a three bagger and Bryce O’Leary (2), Brady Schneider, Zack Zameroski and Garrett Bauer all pitched in with doubles.
Mitchell Struble went 3 for 4 with his league lead tying 11th homerun as one of the hits. Neil MacDonald was 3 for 4 with a triple, Cory Huff added two triples and Danny Singer slapped a double in the losing effort.
