PA Powdered Metals moved into sole possession of second place Monday night in St. Marys Men’s League Softball, shutting out the Allegheny Coatings Goats 6-0 at the Robin Road Extension Softball Complex.
Nick Werner’s RBI single in the second inning proved to be all the offense PPM (4-1) would need Monday. Luke Hoffman and Cory Huff added RBI single in the third and Eric Gerber notched an RBI double for the winners in third to add some cushion and a 4-0 lead.

Jared Braun, Hoffman, Huff, Gerber and Werner all finished with two hits to lead PPM.
Kevin Hoy led the Goats (4-2), going 2 for 3 with a double. Rich Quiggle, Derek Meyer, Dalton Kline, and Ryan Grimm all singled to account for all the hits for Allegheny Coatings.
In Monday’s nightcap, Tyler Landscape turned back Eckert Technical Services 13-6 behind a hitting attack that included five homeruns, two by Eric Bush.
Andy Eck, Andy Glass and Dalton Bauer all recorded dingers for Tyler (2-2). Smacking doubles for the winners were Eck, Bauer and Bush. Josh Pollino added a 2 for 3 night.

For ETS (3-3), Jared Groll (triple), Mitchell Struble, and Tyler Zelinski all picked up a pair of hits. Tyler Donachy and Zach Reigel both added doubles and Josh Zelinski had 2 RBI’s in the losing effort.
On Tuesday night, St. Marys Insurance remained perfect, defeating N&S Contractors 17-13. In the late game, Carlson Technologies finally got their bats going, knocking off the Buttonwood/East End Beverage Honkey Spuds 23-10.
SMI used a four run fourth and fifth and then followed that up with a seven run sixth to improve to 4-0. Kurt Eckert hit a two-run homerun and Kyle Garner doubled in the decisive sixth.
N&S (1-4) led early, 6-0 after two innings, scoring all six of those runs in the second. At one point in the inning, N&S strung together seven consecutive singles.
Lucas Wendel and Kenny Vogt both went 3 for 4 to lead SMI. Wendel knocked in 3 RBI’s as well. One of Vogt’s hits was a double. Nathan Liggett added a 2 for 3 night with a double and 5 RBI’s. Tony Chiodo tripled and TJ Breindel doubled.
Jeff Crawford led N&S, going 4 for 5 with a homerun. Frank Lecker was also 4 for 5 with a homerun. Hog Hoffman was perfect at the plate, finishing 4 for 4.
After scoring just one run last Friday, Carlson’s collected 27 hits and 23 runs in their win over the Buttonwood/East End Beverage.
Mark Schaberl was 4 for 4 to lead CTI (3-2). Eric Herzing was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI’s. Mike Miraglia went 4 for 5 with a homerun, a double and 4 RBI’s, while Justin Saline was also 4 for 5 with 4 RBI’s. Travis Menteer and Ben Thompson added doubles for the winners.
Leading the way for the Honkey Spuds (2-3) was Dustin Geist was a 3 for 3 performance at the plate. Brandon Saline was also perfect, going 2 for 2 with a double. Bobby Jack also added a two-run double in the losing effort.
