Last place PA Powdered Metals upset first place Eckert Technical Services 22-16 Tuesday night and N&S Contractors picked up their second win of the season Monday night, defeating Carlson Technologies 14-8 in early week action in the St. Marys Mens League held at the Robin Road Sports Complex.
Danny Singer hit for the cycle while going 4 for 5 to lead PPM (2-10), smacking a single, double, triple and a homerun. Cory Huff and Mitchell Struble both homered, with Struble’s being his 10th of the season, which leads the league. Frank Singer added a triple, and Luke Hoffman (2), Eric Gerber, and Ben Reuscher all recorded a double for the winners.
Jared Groll had a big night for ETS (8-2), going 5 for 5 with a triple and a pair of RBIs. Kyler Lenox smacked a pair of dingers, finishing 4 for 5 with 5 RBIs. Tyler Donachy also added a homerun. Nate Schneider and Tyler Zelinski legged out triples in the game.
N&S (2-8) used a 10-run fourth inning to propel them to victory. Five straight singles began the inning, which ended with nine hits altogether, led by two singles each by Frank Lecker and John Ackley.
Lecker finished 4 for 4 and Ackley 3 for 4. Rick Beimel also collected three hits for the winners.
CTI (3-8) was led by Mike Miraglia’s 4 for 4 night that included his league leading 10th homerun of the season. Steve Simchick went 3 for 4 with a double and Eric Herzing smacked a triple in the losing effort.
Also on Monday, Tubby’s Tavern squeaked past Tyler Landscape 13-10.
Tubby’s (5-5) got a perfect performance at the plate from Ken Meyer to lead the Tavern Men. Meyer was 4 for 4 with a homerun and a double, knocking in 3 runs. Matt Kriner tripled, and Brock Lewis, Bobby Jack and Harry Carr all added doubles.
Jordan Weinzierl and Nate Hoffman both went 3 for 4 for Tyler (4-5). Weinzierl had a homerun and a pair of RBI’s while Hoffman doubled and knocked in 2 runs. Jeff Crawford tripled, and Dalton Bauer added a double for TLM.
Tuesday night’s other game saw St. Marys Insurance double up Tyler Landscape 24-12.
Rudy Gleixner went 6 for 6 with 2 homeruns and 5 RBIs to lead SMI (8-2). Kenny Vogt pitched in with a 5 for 5 effort that included a homerun and 8 RBI. Ben Cortina and Lucas Wendel also went deep for the Insurancemen. TJ Breindel pitched with a 5 for 5 night as well that included a double and 3 RBI.
Tyler (4-6) was led by Nate Hoffman, who went 4 for 5 with 2 homeruns and 4 RBI. Tyler Daniels went 3 for 3 and Jordan Weinzierl added a double for Tyler.
